Selection & Engineering Solutions
How do I select the right cooling tower for my project?
Cooling equipment selection requires evaluating several critical operational parameters:
- Water Flow Rate: Select the tower model based on your system flow rate ($$m^3/$$ or GPM) to ensure sufficient thermal capacity.
- Operating Temperatures & Delta T: Define the required inlet and outlet water temperatures, with a typical temperature difference ($$\Delta $$) ranging from 5°C to 15°C.
- Ambient Conditions: Design is driven by the local summer design wet-bulb temperature. High-humidity areas require high-efficiency fill or mechanical draft design; high-altitude installations require fan sizing adjustments to compensate for lower air density.
- Site Constraints & Noise Limits: Ensure adequate airflow clearance around the tower (ideally $$\ge 1.5\time$$ tower diameter) away from heat sources or dusty areas. For noise-sensitive zones, sound levels must meet local standards (typically $$\le 60\text{ dB(A)$$ at boundary limits).
- Water Quality: Circulating water turbidity should ideally be $$\le 50\text{ mg/L$$ and free of oil or heavy particulate matter. For poor water quality or process contamination risks, closed-circuit cooling towers are recommended.
Our engineering team provides complimentary thermal sizing and selection services based on your specific site data.
Can NEWIN customize cooling towers for specialized operating conditions?
Yes. We offer non-standard custom engineering, including upgraded metallurgy (HDG, stainless steel, Mg-Al-Zn coated steel), structural modifications, sound attenuation packages, and anti-freezing designs. Whether for seawater cooling, corrosive process fluids, low-noise urban installations, or extreme hot-and-humid environments, we deliver tailored solutions engineered to your site conditions, environmental targets, and budget.
Should I choose an open-circuit, closed-circuit, or hybrid cooling tower?
- Open-Circuit Cooling Tower: Cost-effective with high thermal efficiency. Best suited for general industrial HVAC and applications without strict water purity requirements.
- Closed-Circuit Cooling Tower: Process fluid remains inside a closed coil loop to prevent external contamination. Best suited for high-purity applications like precision manufacturing, chemical processing, and pharmaceutical loops.
- Hybrid Cooling Tower: Combines wet evaporative and dry cooling to achieve up to 40%–60% water savings. Ideal for water-scarce regions or plume-abatement requirements.
Delivery & Logistics
What is the typical lead time after placing an order?
Lead times depend on product type, footprint, and customization scope:
- Standard Models: Ship within 15 to 30 business days after contract signing.
- Heavy-Duty Industrial or Custom Units: Require 40 to 60 days due to specialized engineering and manufacturing.
Firm delivery schedules are confirmed in the contract based on project requirements.
How are the units packaged and shipped?
All equipment is secured with heavy-duty export packaging designed to prevent rust, moisture, rain, and transit vibration during long-distance shipping. Every crate is clearly labeled with model specifications, quantities, and shipping details. Large industrial towers can be shipped knock-down (CKD/SKD) for modular field assembly, reducing logistics costs and field access constraints.
Installation & Commissioning
What are the primary installation requirements?
- Foundations: Foundations must be level and structural load-rated, ensuring full base support to prevent vibration and operational misalignment.
- Airflow Clearance: Maintain unobstructed airflow around air inlets and discharge areas, leaving sufficient clearance for maintenance access.
- Piping Layout: Route inlet and outlet piping efficiently, avoiding sharp bends and long unsupported horizontal runs.
- Electrical Supply: Ensure proper power capacity, control panels, and protective breakers tailored to total motor loads.
Do you provide installation services on-site?
Yes. We offer technical field supervision. Our service engineers deploy on-site to guide mechanical installation, piping connection checks, and system commissioning until full operational handover. For large-scale or complex industrial projects, we also provide complete turnkey execution (including installation, alignment, and commissioning).
Warranty & Technical Support
What is the standard warranty coverage and period?
Our standard warranty is 12 months from the date of successful site acceptance testing. During the warranty period, NEWIN covers free repair or component replacement for failures caused by manufacturing defects. Coverage includes structural framing, casing, fans, and motors. Consumable items (such as fill media and gaskets) are excluded under standard wear-and-tear terms. Extended 24-month warranties are available upon contract agreement.
What is your service response time for technical issues?
Upon receiving a service request, our technical support team responds within 48 hours. For urgent field disruptions, emergency engineering response can be scheduled. We maintain complete lifetime equipment logs to support fast remote diagnostics and field troubleshooting.
Maintenance & Spare Parts
What is the recommended maintenance schedule?
| Frequency | Maintenance Focus | Key Tasks |
| Daily | Visual & Audible Inspection | Check fans and pumps for abnormal noise, vibration, or overheating. |
| Weekly | Filtration & Drive Check | Clean spray strainers and inlet screens; verify drive belt tension. |
| Monthly | Spray System & Basin | Inspect spray nozzles for clogging; clean spray headers and cold water basin. |
| Quarterly | Bearing Lubrication & Coils | Lubricate fan and motor bearings; clean scale/debris from heat exchanger coils. |
| Annually | Comprehensive Inspection | Deep clean fill media; inspect mechanical drive wear; reapply structural anti-corrosion touch-ups. |
| Every 3 Years | Overhaul | Conduct complete drive system overhaul; replace worn fill media, bearings, and seals as required. |
Are spare parts readily available, and what are their typical replacement cycles?
We guarantee lifetime spare parts availability with critical inventory kept in stock. Typical component lifecycles under normal operation:
- Drive Belts & Bearings: Inspect annually; replace every 1–2 years based on wear.
- Spray Nozzles & Headers: Inspect annually; clean or replace upon clogging/scaling build-up.
- Drift Eliminators: Inspect and service/replace every 3 years.
- Cooling Tower Fill Media: Inspect and clean/replace every 3 years (reduce to 2-year maintenance intervals for aggressive or acidic water conditions).
- Structural Coating: Touch up anti-corrosion paint periodically based on site atmospheric exposure.
Post-warranty replacement parts are supplied at nominal component cost. We recommend maintaining preventive maintenance logs to maximize equipment lifespan and eliminate unplanned downtime.
